Our School

Our ethos is: Act Justly ♦ Love Mercy ♦ Walk Humbly with your God

The school builds Christian values into its ethos and teaching in order to provide an excellent academic, social and spiritual education, preparing children for a responsive and involved role in society. We do this by:

  • Promoting and modelling Christian values within the school thereby encouraging personal integrity, consideration for others and understanding different viewpoints
  • Offering an exciting curriculum, planned appropriately to be accessible to all, which enables all children to develop a positive self-image, achieve well and develop a love of learning
  • Celebrating and valuing our school as a multi-cultural community
  • Promoting effective problem-solving, communication and thinking skills
  • Creating strong links between school, home, our parish church and the local community

Our Vision and Values

At our school, we strive to provide learning experiences that inspire a love of learning. We aim to make learning truly irresistible through developing an engaging, creative, active and investigative curriculum that meets all of the aspects of the National Curriculum and is made relevant with tasks and activities linked to literacy and core texts, whilst ensuring they are relevant to our core community.

Through careful monitoring, feedback and assessments we develop a clear understanding of each child’s individual needs. We strive to ensure that every child achieves well and makes good progress throughout their time at our School. By personalising learning and responding to each child’s learning journey we enable each child to achieve well and feel successful. We work to identify and nurture talent in our children and our adults and develop a culture of striving to achieve the highest possible standards. As our children continually experience success, they develop self-confidence, enterprise and a “can-do” mentality. They enjoy being challenged and pushed to their limits as they make sense of the world around them. They are able to communicate effectively in a variety of contexts.

Each adult in the school strives for excellence by conveying a passion for learning and a dedication to the task of providing inspirational learning experiences. It is through this passion, commitment and expertise shown by staff that the children’s success will be assured. We believe that our children deserve the very best we can offer. We aim to improve and develop our facilities so that they promote learning. We understand that children learn better in a safe and stimulating environment and when they are provided with the best quality resources and equipment.

We nurture supportive and happy relationships throughout the school so that children look forward to coming to school and feel valued by those around them. Our Christian values underpin everything we do at our School and Prayer and reflection enhances the spiritual and moral development of our children. We strive to nurture an ethos that embodies the question “What does the Lord require of you?” to “Act Justly, Love Mercy and Walk Humbly with your God” Micah 6:8

Our School Values are: Fairness / Love / Forgiveness / Honesty / Generosity / Kindness

St Paul’s Cray CE Primary School is a  voluntary controlled Church of England school for pupils aged 2 to 11.

The children enjoy a stimulating environment with a wealth of resources within large classrooms.

We also have a maintained nursery with a purpose-built early years setting and large beautifully kept school grounds. The children are encouraged to take care of these alongside their own class allotments.

Our School seeks to serve its community by ensuring excellent education in a Christian setting.

Our 21st-century school is a stimulating learning environment that prepares students for living and being an active member of their community. We encourage them to value the rich diversity of cultures they will encounter, and pupils are empowered to achieve their highest possible in academic, creative and sporting achievement both as members of a community and as individuals. The school provides pupils and staff with many opportunities to explore the significance of Christian faith and values to their own lives and the issues facing people locally, nationally and globally. The school is committed to ensuring that the learning, social, and personal needs of all its students are met by its curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the students is set in the context of Christian faith as taught and lived in the Church of England.

The school’s distinctive ethos and approach are offered to all members of the school community. Christian students find their faith affirmed and valued, and they meet and work with people who hold to other faiths and philosophies, including those of ‘no faith’. All students encounter, in the lives of Christians in the school and in the school’s ethos, a living Christian witness which welcomes and affirms. All members of the school’s community are equally valued and are encouraged to contribute their understandings and abilities to the school’s work and ethos. The beliefs of those from other religious traditions are treated with respect and openness.
